Another addition to my brunch line up is the breakfast square. There are so many different combinations of this morning staple but I settled on ham with a smoked Gruyere cheese for a Saturday brunch treat.
These breakfast squares are so simple to make and you can change what type of meat and cheese you use to create your own favorite. First, Shred your cheese of choice and cut the puff pasty into squares and place them on a greased pan. Put the meat on the pastry and gently fold the edges in to make a little boat.
Next, add the shredded cheese on top of the meat and crack an egg into the cheese. The cheese will help keep the egg from running off the square if you keep the cheese close to the edges of the square. Bake the squares at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes, depending on how well done you like your egg.
Serve with some fruit on the side and some OJ for a delicious morning brunch.
