Our powder room got a much needed makeover! It has been the one space I had my eye on for a weekend project ever since we moved in back in July. I think powder rooms/half baths are such a great space to be creative and do something more bold than you usually would since it is a smaller space and usually more tucked away. In a smaller space, you can be creative and have fun since it isn’t in the main public area and will only be seen if people venture in there.
I knew I wanted to do a fun and wild wallpaper on the back wall since you can’t see it just looking into the room and could hide a crazy pattern a little more. I also wanted to add color to that section of the house since the long entry hallway is just white and we don’t have our front area fully decorated yet.
With wallpaper, I didn’t want the hassle of permanent wallpaper, just in case I didn’t like it so I went with stick on wallpaper from Amazon. I got one roll as a test strip and loved it so we went ahead and did the whole wall. I was surprised, even with textured walls, the paper still stuck very well and hasn’t bubbled or peeled at all. It definitely took two people to put up though so if you are going to attempt this, grab a partner.
We chose this gorgeous gray green from Behr called Eucalyptus Wreath for both our nursery, and for the powder room. It goes with the rest of the cool undertones we have in the house and is just so relaxing and tranquil. By painting only the back wall with the window, it keeps the whole room bright and wasn’t as much work as painting the whole room. I love how the wallpaper and paint combo turned out!
I kept the rest of the décor simple, sticking to the eucalyptus theme for the art and decorations. I found some beautiful eucalyptus watercolor prints on Etsy and used simple frames from Target to complete the wall décor. The eucalyptus arrangement from Amazon completes the room by tying it all together. It is a nice touch when you can stick to a theme and keep it going in all the elements of a room, from the colors to the wall art.
I am exceedingly happy with how everything turned out and have gotten lots of compliments on the space. It was the perfect weekend project for us. I can’t wait to work on some of the other spaces I have in mind!
