For a Midwest girl, I make some darn good guacamole. When I first moved to Texas, one of the things I knew I had to do to fit in was #1 learn to make queso that wasn’t just Velveeta and Rotel and #2, learn to make guacamole to to please a crowd.
There are millions of recipes for guac, but I’m partial to this one because of how the creaminess of the avocados mixes with the flavors of the onion, tomato, and cilantro. Add a bit it lime juice and some garlic and you’ve got a fresh dip for all occasions.
Ingredients
- 3 ripe avocados
- 3 Roma Tomatoes
- 1 small red onion
- 2 small bunches cilantro
- Juice of 1 lime
- 2 tsp Garlic Salt
Coarsely chop tomatoes, onion, and cilantro and add to a large bowl with avocados. Juice 1 lime and add garlic salt.
Use potato masher or fork to smash avocado and other ingredients together, being careful not to over chop the avocados to maintain the chunky texture.
The finished product should be a creamy, tangy, chunky guacamole that will be your new favorite. Serve with tortilla ships and salsa at your next gathering for a perfect dip combo.
Enjoy!
