This weekend, my girlfriends threw me the most incredible baby shower! I was absolutely blown away by their creativity and thoughtfulness that was apparent in every detail. From the theme, to the food (which was INCREDIBLE!) to the sweet time of fellowship, it was the perfect way to celebrate baby boy.
As a hostess of many baby showers myself, I know how much planning goes into all the details, so I was grateful to have a group of friends who came together to help put everything in place. They would not let me help! It was so sweet to have them literally tell me NOT to do anything, which for a planner, is the best gift you can give them.
I was amazed at how everyone brought their unique talents together to make everything so perfect. I realized I basically have a whole event planning crew in my friend group from one who is a florist, to an event coordinator, to a photographer, to an amazing chef and baker, and an interior designer. We really should start a company together!
I loved the “Cutie on the Way!” theme, especially since I have been craving so much citrus lately. It was fitting to be surrounded by oranges and all the citrus flavors.
It was wonderful to have my mom in town for the shower since it gave her the opportunity to meet many of my friends and be a part of such a special time. I am so grateful she was able to share this time with me. Each of these ladies are so precious to me and I’m so glad they could be part of celebrating with me.
The menu featured a delicious tomato tarte from Barefoot Contessa made by my friend Amanda with tomatoes from her own garden. It was definitely a hit with everyone! There was charcuterie (of course!), pimento cheese, a delicious cranberry orange salad, and cute little vegetable cups with hummus and ranch. Beverages were all citrus themed so there was lots of lemonade and citrus sparkling water. Dessert consisted of the dreamiest orange creamsicle cake I ate two slices of and tart lemon bars to satisfy my citrus craving.
After we had lunch, we played a few traditional baby shower games like guessing how large my bump was and a “who knows mommy best” trivia game. I am so grateful to have friends who know me so well, but apparently my love for Indian food was a bit of a surprise! They gave me so many thoughtful and precious gifts that I know baby boy will be sure to love. I also appreciated all the advice from the other moms in the room on their experiences and what we really need in the newborn phase.
In all, it was the perfect afternoon spent with those I love dearly celebrating such a special time. I cannot thank each of the hostesses enough for all they did to make the day so memorable and special for me. I am so blessed to be surrounded by such loving sisters who shower me every day with their support and friendship. I cannot wait to enter motherhood with them around me!
