Happy Independence Day weekend friends! What a lovely time to celebrate all that summer has to offer and a long weekend to relax with family and friends. I wanted to put together a patriotic stable setting for us this weekend, even though we aren’t hosting this year because I love the colors of the 4th of July. This was an extra special table design because my mom collaborated with me and helped me design what you see here! She is who I get my eye for color from so it was only fitting that she help me put together such a bright and cheery table setting.
You can’t ever go wrong with gingham and stripes on the 4th of July, so why not mix the two? I found these adorable red gingham cloth napkins on Amazon and they will definitely be coming out at Christmastime. The table cloth is an older one from Target, but a few similar options are linked below. The salad plates are melamine from Bed Bath and Beyond and really pull the place settings together.
I originally didn’t have the tablecloth as part of the setting, but there was just something missing so I decided to give it a try, and thankfully it was just what this table needed. You can mix patterns more easily if you stay in the same color family (blues, greens, ect) and one of your patterns is a more classic pattern (stripes, polka dots).
I raided the Target Dollar section for the red metal lanterns and star centerpiece. I always try to grab a few seasonal/holiday items from there since they are relatively inexpensive ($3-$8 usually) and they are fun to pull out at different times in the year. You don’t always know what your table will need until you start designing it, so having a good collection of inexpensive “filler items” can be helpful when you need to fill in spaces or add more to your table.
I hope everyone has a safe and fun filled weekend celebrating! Let me know if you have any fun place settings for your celebrations this weekend!
